Cloud Migration for KKBOX

Consolidating 700 servers for boosted operational efficiency, scalability and cost reduction

KKBOX partnered with Going Cloud to consolidate dispersed workloads to AWS, successfully enhancing operational efficiency, scalability and cost reduction.

About
KKBOX

KKBOX is a leading music streaming service provider in Asia with 12 million users and 90 million tracks available across Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. Although the provider had undergone continuous updates and enhancements over the past decade to meet user demands, their workloads remained dispersed across on-premises infrastructure and multiple public cloud platforms. This fragmented system environment, lacking a holistic approach, posed challenges in terms of management, resource utilization, and system maintenance.

Challenge
Overcoming Dispersed Workload and Resource Challenges

Facing challenges related to workload and resources, and recognizing the long-term benefits of flexibility and scalability, KKBOX chose to collaborate with Going Cloud to migrate and centralize its services on AWS.

KKBOX's key challenges:

  • Scattered Workloads: Difficult to manage and optimize due to lack of centralized control.
  • Resource Fragmentation: Inefficient resource allocation and complex management.
Solution
AWS Cloud Migration: Managing Workload Migration and Server Relocation

Going Cloud led KKBOX’s AWS cloud migration with the following methodology to address current and future challenges.

  • Workload Migration: Migrated 25 on-premises workloads and 20 workloads from other public clouds to AWS.
  • Server Relocation: Transferred 700 servers to AWS infrastructure.
  • Cost Optimization: Used AWS cost optimization strategies to efficiently allocate resources.
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment: Implemented CI/CD practices to enable seamless updates and deployments.
